Review of the Conference
This year’s CIRI conference was held from June 17-19 in beautiful Whistler, BC and was attended by more than 300 delegates and exhibitors.
Although smaller than its U.S. counterpart (the recent NIRI conference drew almost 1,400 exhibitors and delegates) CIRI held its own. As many delegates were acquainted with one another and all were receptive to newcomers, the atmosphere was relaxed and congenial. In addition, the intimate venue and fewer attendees heightened opportunities for interaction and made networking easy and enjoyable.

To celebrate CIRI's 20th annual conference, the main evening event centred on a 1920s theme and costume party.

As with NIRI, delegates were as interested in networking with their peers and meeting exhibitors as they were in attending the sessions. Traffic at the booth prevented us from attending many sessions but we managed to hear the panel discussion on the future outlook for stock exchanges among the TSX, NASDAQ and NYSE moderated by Neil Stewart. It was fascinating - primarily due to the highly competitive spirit among the U.S. panelists.
The CIRI program focused on IR best practices, legislative and compliance issues, improving investor relations and career enhancement and development.
From our exhibitor’s perspective, the conference provided a great opportunity to meet many prospective clients we have been talking to and visit with current customers. Overall response to both Q4 WEB and Q4 PRESS was tremendous, with many delegates booking appointments to explore our products in further detail.
We also appreciated the chance to speak with both current and potential customers about the future of our software and to gain their insights into how we can continue to make it easier for them to reduce risk and increase efficiencies related to their disclosure.
We were very pleased with the CIRI conference and found it well worth attending.
